July 2, 2016 - Apostle Islands, WI
The Apostle Islands National Lakeshore comprises a stretch of shoreline and 21 islands at the northern tip of Wisconsin, on Lake Superior. On the mainland, the Lakeshore Trail winds past cliffs and sea caves. Many islands have trails, beaches and marinas. Wildlife includes bald eagles, falcons and black bears. Our home base was Madeline Island. It is the largest island of the Apostle Islands. Headquarters for our group of photographers was the Madeline Island School of the Arts (MISA), which is ranked among the top five art and craft schools in the country. The Island is known for its magnificent light and colors, creating an unparalleled setting for inspiration and creativity. Leave the clock – you’re on island time! Stroll the sandy beaches and relax to the rhythm of waves rolling in. Watch and feel the breezes blowing through the towering pines. Immerse yourself in history.
